Hi Reader,
I’m excited to share with you the latest episode of the Digital Learning Today where recently I had a heartfelt conversation with Dr. Breeda McGrath, the President of Pacific Oaks College & Children’s School.
In this episode, Dr. McGrath discusses her extensive experience in education, particularly in the context of the challenges posed by the recent wildfires in Southern California and the innovative ways technology is reshaping learning for our youngest students.
She shares inspiring stories of resilience, highlighting how educators and community members have come together to support families and children during such challenging times.
It's a powerful reminder of the strength we can find in collaboration and empathy.
This summer, not only will I be celebrating the launch of my first book called, Impact Standards, I will also be celebrating the 14th birthday of TeacherCast. To get ready for many new adventures in podcasting, I redesigned much of TeacherCast.
If you haven't had the opportunity to stop by recently, please check it out this week. I'd love to get your feedback on the new design.
The Good, The Great, The Ugly
The Good News
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to visit Google headquarters in New York City. About 100 educators came together for the NY Google for Education Champions Energizer. It was a wonderful event and it was great to reconnect with so many fantastic educators and learn from everyone. I had a chance this week to share a bit about how I am merging my Google Apps with a little bit of Notion magic to create my Ultimate Productivity system.
The GREAT NEWS!
As we look ahead to the warmer months, I am excited to begin announcing that my first book, IMPACT Standards is getting the final coat of paint on it and pretty soon I will be able to share pre-order details and share links to pick up a copy for yourself.
The Ugly News.
Look, I wasn't going to write this in the newsletter. It's really personal but in times like the ones we are in right now, I need to lean on the network that I have built over the last 14 years.
Here goes ...
Last week, due to an unfortunate 2 million dollar cut to my school districts budget, the district called in over 60 non-tenured teachers and issued non-renewal slips. I unfortunatly was one of those being handed an envelop sharing that due to budget cuts, I may not be rehired for next year.
This sadly means that I am currently looking for my next adventure.
If you know of any positions in edtech, or digital media that might be interested in connecting, please email me directly and let me know. This is completley unfortunate and I'm sure that I'm not the only educator in this position this spring. But I am sharing this with you in hopes that you may be able to help out a triplet dad before the summer months hit.
If you are able to help out in any way or would be willing to check out a resume or two, please let me know. Greatly appreciated.
